About Cathy

Close up of “Marigold CELLS”, paint and printed material, 2011

Working with my hands has always been a love of mine. Ever since I was  a child I have been making things .

Most recently I have become more interested in working 2 dimensionally with drawing and colour and have become fascinated by stone lithography, which is a printmaking process. This exacting and time consuming process gives me a structure and a security that balances the content of my work which is very fluid and playful.

Colour has always been important to me but recently it seems to be a stronger and clearer theme.

I have in the past  years been involved in making sculpture and particularly in pieces made from natural materiels, linked with the outdoor environment.

A piece of work or series of work  may have been initiated by the feeling or 'nature' of a particular  place, as in the case of site- specific work . eg 'Singing Pots' .  Singing Pots was also shaped through collaboration with musician, Susanna Bearfoot. For more info on site specific, see site specific.

Drawing and collage  are a constant source of  exploration for me.

Teaching and working with children is something I love doing. I have extensive experience of working creatively with children and adults in many different settings.  I am teaching ongoing groups in Stroud, please contact me if you are interested. For more info please go to my CV and Participatory.

I have a life long interest and love of physical movement and have been practicing Tai Chi and Chi Gong since I was 20. My Chi Gong and meditation practice is a source of inspiration and focus for my creative work.   Please contact me if you are interested in what I am doing..Many pieces are for sale. For more info if you are interested in purchasing some artwork please go to Sales.
